Mi Via Waiver Services
In 1999, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched its first self-directed Home and Community-Based Services waiver program in New Mexico, named Mi Via.
Mi Via, which means “my path”, "my way" or “my road”, is designed to assist you in managing your own services and supports through self-direction and self-choice. The Mi Via Waiver recognizes that you as an individual, along with your family, can choose how to live your own best life.
Alegria Family Services as an agency is unique in New Mexico. We are here to guide you and assist you as you navigate your way through the complexities involved in transitioning to the Mi Via Waiver. ABOUT AFS
Alegria Family Services began serving families back in 2005, and after more than 20 years in New Mexico we have remained true to our beliefs, ideals and ethical standards. AFS believes that the appropriate matching of individuals with developmental disabilities and providers can bring about a living situation that closely approximates that of the average family household. Alegria Family Services knows that each person is inherently valuable and that each person has dignity and worth.
Alegria Family Services is a strong supporter of families as Family Living Providers.

Alegria Family Services meets or exceeds all New Mexico State requirements for training of our providers and employees. We have embraced the use of technology that allows AFS the ability to continually monitor and manage trainings, so our providers and staff are always in compliance. This means that Alegria can provide uninterrupted services for the individuals we serve.
OUR MISSION
Alegria Family Services exists to support individuals on the Mi Via Waiver and their providers and to strengthen the quality of life for all associated with AFS. It is our passion to nurture the needs of all these connected with Alegria Family Services to the highest level of independence and safety possible. Quality providers, professional training and improved quality of life are our goals, but we do not stop there. We aspire to having all those affiliated with Alegria Family Services to live the life they love.
